Although I would perfer Ralph to win, since it's the best and Disney has never won an award in this category. It's very hard for me to guess what the Oscars results are gonna be. And sometimes they disappoint me a lot.

But in that particular case, I think I won't be too disappointed, whatever happens. All great films. I think all should win, really. But it'd be nice for one of the less award-recognized movies (like Pirates or ParaNorman) to get it.

Note : tired of my no-avatar pic each time I post a comment, so trying something here...Damienhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02392105599301402175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8660789765534168781.post-52237954901741466772013-01-27T20:04:24.987+00:002013-01-27T20:04:24.987+00:00Are you not a Burton fan in general, Moonie? Are you not a Burton fan in general, Moonie?William Jardinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01914060460297464977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8660789765534168781.post-29058260194292930052013-01-27T19:48:21.453+00:002013-01-27T19:48:21.453+00:00What on earth is the appeal of Frankenweenie? I really enjoyed the rest of the contenders (and adored Paranorman with all of my being) but Frankenweenie was just.... ugh. What am I missing here?Mooniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09527982437280698722noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8660789765534168781.post-521097610893894372013-01-27T19:15:30.215+00:002013-01-27T19:15:30.215+00:00First of all let me say that appreciate your thoug...First of all let me say that appreciate your thoughts and I love this kind of discussions because I'm able to appreciate the different opinions and about this films. Now I thought ParaNorman was superb but I had a problem with it which is that it does not handle its comedic and dramatic moments very well (I have the same problem with The Hunchback of Notre Dame). At one moment it's very serious and emotional and other is funny and silly without a cohesive transition. That lack of tonal balance through me off quite a bit. Coraline on the other hand, maintained its creepiness the entire time making it a more fluid picture.

I can say that Brave is not Pixar's best film but I think is it far from merely ok. While some supporting characters didn't add anything to the picture, the central mother-daughter relationship was handled exceptionally and in a way that it feels both real and heartfelt at the same time.

I still maintain that 2012 was a great year for animation and the five nominees are excellent movies but the three Disney films are the best of the bunch.
