Zootopia was kind of an exception for the Walt Disney Animation Studios; usually, these past few years, a short film was shown before the feature, and that wasn't the case for the 55th animated classic from the Mouse House. Fortunately, Disney announced today that a new short film called Inner Workings will be attached to Moana. More details below.
Inner Workings is directed by Leo Matsuda (a story artist on Wreck-It Ralph and Big Hero 6) and produced by Sean Lurie. Disney tells us the short "is the story of the internal struggle between a man’s Brain—a pragmatic protector who calculates his every move, and his Heart—a free-spirited adventurer who wants to let loose".
Inner Workings will premiere at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on 17 June. Disney will also bring some Moana sequences to Annecy.
Moana (directed by Disney veterans Ron Clements & John Musker) will debut with Inner Workings on the 23 November in the US.
