'The Dam Keeper' is Getting the Feature Film Treatment
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the 2014 short film The Dam Keeper will become a feature film; 20th Century Fox Animation and Tonko House are partnering to produce a feature length version of the Academy Award nominated film.
The original directors and writers and ex-Pixar artists Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi are set to reprise their roles for the upcoming film. John Henry Hinkel will join them to co-write the movie.
There will be major differences between the short and the feature film (besides the running time): while the short was dialogue-free and relied on a 2D/painting aesthetic, this new iteration of The Dam Keeper will have dialogue and use CGI.
No release date has been set yet, but Kondo and Tsutsumi have plenty on their hands (they are currently working on graphic novels and a Hulu series of The Dam Keeper), so don't expect this movie next year.
