Through its YouTube channel, The 20th Century Fox released a new trailer for the fifth film in the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age: Collision Course. And… let's just say it's very different from the original Ice Age film. The Blue Sky saga has slowly but surely evolved with each new entry, going from a simple and charming story to an over-crowded blockbuster trying to squeeze in as many jokes as possible. See the trailer below.

Watch: The Second Trailer for 'Ice Age: Collision Course' Brings Even More Characters

The Ice Age franchise has been a long and profitable series of films for Blue Sky. The first one was released 14 years ago and each new film has been a commercial success, making the Ice Age movies the second highest-grossing animated franchise after Shrek; so it makes sense Blue Sky is going forward with Collision Course, the fifth film in the saga; with the risk of producing a tiresome and overcrowded movie. Watch the new trailer below.

2015 in Animation: A Preview

As 2014 is closing as one of the most solid years for animation in recent memory, let's take a look at what lies ahead in the new year. Bear in mind that this list is just for mainstream animated films, as the independent and foreign fare get announced on the fly. Also, this list only includes fully animated films, so hybrids like Monster Trucks and Pixels are not included.  Here's the list of the animated films that are coming with some observations and (just for fun) an estimated Rotten Tomatoes score:

Animation Studios' Shophomore Films - From Worst to Best

Many times, animation studios start very strong with a debut feature that is beloved and popular. But, when the time comes to release their second outing, they often stumble. Either they are just a retread of the first film or just aren't as successful as it. However, many of these films have actually improved on their predecessors and are now regarded as masterpieces. Let's take a look on these second (and often underrated) efforts and see how they compare to their immediate predecessors.

Ice Age 5 Coming in 2016 (Yes, Really), Anubis Pushed Back to 2018

This news is sure to draw collective groans from animation fans, particularly given the rate at which the quality of the films is plummeting (just have a gander at their Rotten Tomatoes scores), but so long as they keep bringing in the mammoth (no pun intended) numbers that they are doing (Continental Drift, the fourth film in the series, made almost $875 million worldwide), Fox and Blue Sky will keep making Ice Age films. And the fifth one is coming in 2016.

Rio 2 Trailer: Into the Wild

Back in 2011, Rio told the story of the unable-to-fly macaw Blu getting lost in Rio de Janeiro and having to survive in the hostile environment. But the sequel's latest trailer reveals that Rio 2 will go out of the city, as most of the plot will apparently take place in the jungle; that doesn't mean things will be any easier for Blu though, now father of three baby birds.
