Watch: The New 'Early Man' Trailer Pits Stone Against Bronze

Aardman's next feature film, Early Man, is set in prehistoric times, but one where Dinosaurs co-exist with humans and in which the heroes have to fight against a powerful and technology more advanced tribe.
Like always with the Bristol Studio, the new Early Man trailer promises there's a lot of fun to be had, and the world created by Nick Park and his creative team looks great. Watch the trailer below.

Animated Films and TV Series that need a Blu-ray Release ASAP, part 2

Today is a glorious day, dear readers. A grave injustice has been corrected. Today is the day that The Iron Giant is finally getting a Blu-ray release and you can finally own this masterpiece in stunning HD and watch hours upon hours of wonderful bonus material. Warner Bros. has finally seen the error of their ways and the fact that they gave The Iron Giant such a splendid release, it's cause for celebration. However, as we can scratch one film from the list, this day is also a reminder that there are still many films and TV series that are awaiting a proper Blu-ray release and it's time for the studios to deliver.

As with my previous list, from two years ago, this list applies to US releases.

There were quite a few good animated films in 2015 - some excellent even; but it seems like one in particular was above average. Without further ado, here are our picks for the 5th edition of the A113Animation Awards (the winners are in gold, and there is a breakdown of the results at the bottom of the post)!

The 5th A113Animation Awards Nominations

After one year off, the A113Animation Awards are back! These are our 5th Awards, and we are following the same formula established in the previous years; a few things have changed, though: we're introducing a Best Writing Award, and we've let go of the Ben Kerfoot Award.
Unlike for the past editions, William won't be picking the winners; I (Damien) will, according to my personal taste and based on the films I've seen. Of course William will also choose his favourite 2015 animated film, as will Munir.
The winners will be announced on Saturday 30th January.

2015 in Animation: A Preview

As 2014 is closing as one of the most solid years for animation in recent memory, let's take a look at what lies ahead in the new year. Bear in mind that this list is just for mainstream animated films, as the independent and foreign fare get announced on the fly. Also, this list only includes fully animated films, so hybrids like Monster Trucks and Pixels are not included.  Here's the list of the animated films that are coming with some observations and (just for fun) an estimated Rotten Tomatoes score:

Animation Studios' Shophomore Films - From Worst to Best

Many times, animation studios start very strong with a debut feature that is beloved and popular. But, when the time comes to release their second outing, they often stumble. Either they are just a retread of the first film or just aren't as successful as it. However, many of these films have actually improved on their predecessors and are now regarded as masterpieces. Let's take a look on these second (and often underrated) efforts and see how they compare to their immediate predecessors.
