DreamWorks have released (via iTunes Movie Trailers) the first trailer for their snail-starring, Cars-like feature, Turbo. Turbo is directed by veteran DreamWorks story artist-turned director (Merry Madagascar), David Soren, and will be the second DreamWorks feature released under their distribution deal with 20th Century Fox - following The Croods in March.
Before you watch the trailer (embedded via DreamWorks' YouTube channel above), I really must stress that this is only a teaser and we see very little of the film beyond the titular lead, Ryan Reynolds' voice and some Indianapolis 500 racing. I'm not entirely sold on Turbo yet - it definitely seems more Madagascar 3 than Rise of the Guardians - but it does look like a lot of fun. Keep your eyes peeled for more.
The synopsis for the film is:
"From the makers of Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda, Turbo is a high-velocity 3D comedy about an underdog snail who kicks into overdrive when he miraculously attains the power of super-speed. But after making fast friends with a crew of streetwise, tricked-out es-car-goes, Turbo learns that no one succeeds on their own. So he puts his heart and shell on the line to help his pals achieve their dreams, before Turbo-charging his own impossible dream: winning the Indy 500."
Turbo zooms into cinemas on 19th July, 2013 (US) and 18th October, 2013 (UK).
Bit without the snail. Oh hai, Pixar's Cars opening!
