Harry Shearer Will Return to 'The Simpsons' After All
Earlier this year, Harry Shearer (the voice of Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner and dozens of other characters in The Simpsons) tweeted he was leaving the show. But he won't: according to EW, he will be back for the 27th season.
Shearer reportedly signed the same contract the other major Simpsons voice actors (Dan Castellaneta, Yeardley Smith, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, and Hank Azaria) signed before. Which means he's now attached to the TV show for 4 more years; even though Fox has only renewed The Simpsons for two more seasons so far.
This is excellent news, as Harry Shearer's voices are deeply imprinted on our memories, and having him back prevents the weirdness that would've been a recast of all his characters (which is what would have happened had he truly left the show, according to Simpsons' producer Al Jean).
The Simpsons' 27th season will start airing on Fox on the 27th September.
