Edgar Wright to Direct a Live-Action/Animation Hybrid Adaptation of 'Fortunately, the Milk'
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Fox is about to acquire the film rights for Neil Gaiman's book Fortunately, the Milk. Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Johnny Depp are attached to the project. More below.
'What's that to do with animation?', you may wonder. Well, it turns out the movie would be a live action/animation hybrid. Animal Logic Entertainment (The LEGO Movie) will provide the animation sequences.
The story follows a dad going out to buy some milk. Pretty straightforward; the thing is he encounters aliens, dinosaurs, pirates and more in his journey.
It would be Edgar Wright's first foray into animation as a director (he did work on The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn as a writer).
Johnny Depp is set to star in the film and produce it. Bret McKenzie (Flight of the Conchords, The Muppets) is writing the screenplay.
