Variety reports that Lino Di Salvo, head of animation on Disney's Frozen and animation supervisor on Bolt and Tangled, will direct the first Playmobil movie in a proposed trilogy. The movie will be called Playmobil: Robbers, Thieves & Rebels and should be released in 2018.
The Playmobil movie is the latest project based on a famous toy brand (following The LEGO Movie and the upcoming DreamWork's Trolls).
Here's what Lino DiSalvo had to say about the project:
"I am thrilled at the prospect of developing the Playmobil film. As a father and a filmmaker, to create a film about your son’s favorite toy, what else do you want?"The film is being developed by the French-based On Entertainment - who is responsible for The Little Prince.
