Six years after their win for Up, Pete Docter (director) and Jonas Rivera (producer) take the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film home again, but this time for Inside Out.
It's Pixar's eighth win in the category, after Finding Nemo (2004), The Incredibles (2005), Ratatouille (2008), WALL•E (2009), Up (2010), Toy Story 3 (2010) and Brave (2013).
Inside Out was also nominated for the Original Screenplay category, but lost to Spotlight - which eventually also got Best Picture.
Pete Docter had this to say in his acceptance speech:
This film was really born out of watching our kids grow up, which is not easy. Anyone out there who’s in junior high, high school, working it out, suffering. There are days you’re going to feel sad, you’re going to feel angry, you’re going to feel scared. That’s nothing you can choose. But you can make stuff. Make films. Draw. Write. It will make a world of difference.
Bear Story (Historia de un Oso), a Chilean film directed by Gabriel Osorio Vargas, won the Short Animated Film competition. Here is a teaser of the short below.
