[UPDATED] (Very) Early Oscar Predictions for Best Animated Feature

I know most animated films scheduled for this year haven't even been released yet, but I think it'll be fun to make some predictions based on what we know of each film and weigh up their chances of receiving a nod next year for the next Oscar ceremony. So, without much further ado, here are my (very) early predictions for next year's Academy Awards.

Though we have yet to hear about any other release dates for The Tale of Princess Kaguya, we will soon find out how Japanese audiences will react to Studio Ghibli's latest release, directed by Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies); it hits Japanese theatres next week, on 23rd November.

Only one month to go before Isao Takahata's The Tale of Princess Kaguya takes over Japan and rules the box office like Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises did in July. Now that we know Hayao Miyazaki's final film, The Wind Rises, is due to open officially in the US for an Oscar qualifying run from 8th - 14th November in New York and Los Angeles only, and even though most of us have yet to see the film, we can already look forward to Studio Ghibli's next project which is also right around the corner...sort of.
