Next Studio Ghibli Film Could be Porco Rosso Sequel

While much sadness was expressed at Hayao Miyazaki's retirement announcement at the beginning of this month, some fans can once again rejoice, as a new announcement from Studio Ghibli has been released regarding their newest project. Along with lots of speculation.

Details are still scarce as the project is only set to be released in the summer of 2014 (in Japan) but this is what we know. Hiromasa Yonebayashi, director of The Secret World of Arrietty, will be heading the project as director. And that's about it for hard facts.

Bleeding Cool speculates that this new project may be the much anticipated sequel to Porco Rosso, as that project had been mentioned as being in the works, and linked to Yonebayashi, as far back as 2011. The supposed sequel may be titled The Last Sortie, but there is no confirmation on any of this yet.

Although, if you're getting angsty for some more Studio Ghibli, you don't have to wait for long. The Wind Rises will be screened from 8th - 14th November in New York and Los Angeles only, then a limited release on 21st February before opening wide on 28th February, 2014.
