[NOW CLOSED] Competition: Win a Copy of The Art of Mr. Peabody & Sherman and Judge an A113Animation Award

A113Animation have got not one, but two, great competitions for our fabulous readers, with two great prizes! Firstly, we're teaming up with the great guys and gals at Titan Books again, to give away a free copy of the art book for DreamWorks' new film, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, directed by The Lion King's Rob Minkoff. In addition to The Art of Mr. Peabody & Sherman, we're giving one of you the chance to judge this year's Second Opinion A113Animation Award, telling us your favourite animated film of 2013. Check out the details of both the competitions below!

This Week on A113Animation (14th - 20th October, 2013)

Apologies for the infrequency of this feature as of late (and indeed that this week's is a day and a half late!), alas the non-animation world gets in the way occasionally. All the same, there were a few really exciting bits of news this week: casting rumours for another Marvel film (it's rarely a week we don't have some of that); are Pixar working on Cars 3?; cool new stills from DreamWorks' Mr. Peabody & Sherman; a fantastic new trailer for Frozen; we've also got features, reviews, and a Disney anniversary post; and we've launched an exciting Art of Turbo competition! For details on all that, and what you may have missed during last week, check out our (kinda) weekly recap below.

[UPDATED: Now Closed] 3rd Annual A113Animation Awards: Competition and Poll

It's awards season, folks. As such, the 3rd Annual A113Animation Awards are fast approaching! Delayed from their usual December slot to allow me to check out Disney's much lauded latest film, (and one I'm extremely excited to finally see) Wreck-It Ralph, the awards are now taking place on 15th February, with nominees to be announced on 9th February.

However, here at A113Animation, we love hearing your say on things, as such we're giving you two chances to voice your thoughts on what the best animated feature film of 2012 was! A poll will appear very shortly on the right-hand side of the blog, collecting votes to decided what "The People's Favourite Animated Film" of 2012 was (that'll run for the next few weeks).

In addition though, we're running our 3rd competition! I'm afraid the prize isn't quite as glamorous as our last one was, but you do get to judge this year's "Second Opinion Award", meaning you get your name up on the blog, alongside your pick for the best animated film of 2012. To enter, as the picture above details, you can do one of three things: Tweet (@A113Animation), Facebook (facebook.com/a113animation) and/or email (contact@a113animation.com) us, saying what your favourite animated film of 2012 was (with or without an explanation) by the end of this month. You can do all three, each one counts as one entry; the winner will be announced and contacted shortly thereafter.

Sorry for the lack of glamorous prizes for this one (there'll be one of those in the near future hopefully!), but please get involved and enter. Best of luck - and remember to vote in the poll when it's up too.

UPDATE - 22:25 (GMT), 01/02/2013: The competition is now closed, the winner was Twitter user, and loyal A113Animation reader and commenter, @BenBoekelaar and he'll now get the chance to judge the "Second Opinion Award" later this month.

Congrats to Benjamin, commiserations to those who weren't successful this time, and thanks to the many who entered - we hope to have a few more competitions in the foreseeable future!

A113Animation Competition - Now Closed!

It's been an exciting ride but the 2nd A113Animation Competition has come to a close. With over 40 entries from all over the world, it soon became obvious that people really wanted to win The Art of Rise of the Guardians. So, my heartfelt commiserations to all those who didn't win, especially to those - like @LuxoCharaDesign and @mubblegum - who expressed such a keen enthusiasm for it; there's always next time! If you were thinking of buying it anyway, I'd recommend doing so - it's fantastic.

That said, there could only be one winner, and that winner - chosen at random - is Twitter user @MoonieBalloonie! Moonie also entered via email, but it was her Twitter entry that won her this free copy of Titan Books' companion book of DreamWorks' latest feature (out 21st Nov. (US), 30th Nov. (UK)). I've sent her an email, and so long as she replies with her address, then we have our winner!

Again, sorry if you were unsuccessful, but thanks for visiting A113Animation, and we hope to be able to maybe give you a prize in the future.

A113Animation Competition - Win a Copy of The Art of Rise of the Guardians!

DreamWorks' latest feature film, Rise of the Guardians, is out soon, and it looks awesome! As per for an animated release, there's an accompanying 'Art of' book, and my review copy of it arrived today, courtesy of Titan Books. But this time we asked Titan for an extra copy - and they kindly obliged - so now we're giving you the chance to win a copy of The Art of Rise of the Guardians!

This is thanks, in part, for all of your great participation in our "A113 Ten Years" polls, and for visiting A113Animation. Plus, it's a really great book; I've only given it a quick glance so far (full review to follow), but so far I'm tempted to say this is the best 'Art of' book of the year!

What do you have to do to win? Well that's quite simple: you need to either Tweet us (@A113Animation), post on our wall on Facebook (facebook.com/a113animation) or email us (contact@a113animation.com), saying "I'd like to win The Art of Rise of the Guardians", or words to that effect. You can do all three if you like, so you can enter up to three times, and you have two weeks tomorrow, until 8th November, to do so. So get started, and good luck!

If you just can't risk not winning, then you can order the book via our Amazon Associates link below.

The Art of Rise of the Guardians, by Ramin Zahed, Titan Books (UK); Insight Editions (US). [16th October 2012, £24.99 (UK); 22nd October 2012, $40.00 (US)].

Just a heads up, the deadline for our first A113Animation Competition has been delayed from October 5 to October 31. Competition Reminder

With just over a month to go until the deadline, remember to enter our very first A113Animation Competition.

As the above image highlights, to get the chance to win a free copy of Cars on DVD and the opportunity to judge your very own A113Animation Award, you must write a reasonably detailed (there's no minimum word number, but don't send in minuscule entries) review of any animated film from 2011 (including Tangled, as that was released in January over here in the UK) and e-mail it to a113animation@gmail.com by 5th October.

The review can be of any animated film, the most insightful, interesting and/or entertaining review will win, for help or for details, check out our reviews and the competition page.

A113Animation Competition

You may have noticed for a few months now that there has been a page shrouded in mystery, the Competition Page. Well, it is no longer "Under Construction", it is now up and running and if you head over there you will see the above image. We are happy to announce the conditions of the first ever A113Animation Competition; you will have the chance to judge the the first ever "Second Opinion Award" AND win a free copy of the original Cars on DVD. All you have to do to win is write up a fairly detailed review (don't just put it in a big font) of any animated film from 2011 (including Tangled as that only came out in January in the UK so will be included in the awards) and e-mail it to a113animation@gmail.com by 5th October 2011. I will then read each one carefully and announce (on the blog) and contact the winner via their e-mail by the 20th October.

Also, please be sure to include your mailing address in the e-mail entry, so we know where to send the prize.

We're all very excited about this competition and hope it will be the first of many, so please, enter, tell your friends and just have fun.
