Jason Reitman is Writing and Directing 'Beekle' for DreamWorks

The Wrap just broke the news that the next project of Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking) won't be a live action feature. It will be an animated film at DreamWorks Animation. More below.

The Wrap Calls Frozen "Disney’s Best Animated Musical Since Beauty and the Beast"

We're under a month away from the release of Disney's 53rd animated feature, and the glowing reviews are already coming in. We've seen it called the "Greatest Disney Animated Event Since The Lion King," and a new review from The Wrap calls it the best since Beauty and the Beast! "Proactive princesses and catchy tunes make for a winning combo in this updating of Hans Christian Andersen’s “Snow Queen”," says the review.

John Kahrs Speaks About His Disney Departure

At the tail end of last month, we reported the sad news that John Kahrs, the director of Disney's fantastic short film Paperman, had left the Disney studio to pursue other avenues. As it was announced in a, strictly-speaking, unofficial manner, we got no comment from Kahrs or from Disney reps. But now we have just that; Kahrs and a Disney spokesperson offered statements on the move to The Wrap.

It's a day, it seems, of loosely-based-to-animation news, but this is too exciting a story to not post about. Months after the galaxy-shaking news that Disney had acquired Lucasfilm and were working on a new Star Wars trilogy, and endless speculation about who would direct the first instalment in said trilogy, we now know that J.J. Abrams is near to reaching a deal to helm Star Wars: Episode VII!
