The Wrap just broke the news that the next project of Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air, Thank You for Smoking) won't be a live action feature. It will be an animated film at DreamWorks Animation. More below.

Jason Reitman will write and direct Beekle, an adaptation of a children's book titled The Adventures of Beekle: the Unimaginary Friend. The original story was written and illustrated by Dan Santat, and was released in 2014. Here's the book official synopsis:
This magical story begins on an island far away where an imaginary friend is born. He patiently waits his turn to be chosen by a real child, but when he is overlooked time and again, he sets off on an incredible journey to the bustling city, where he finally meets his perfect match and-at long last-is given his special name: Beekle. This certainly sounds like an interesting concept; while Jason Reitman is far from being an obvious choice, it'll be interesting to see what he does with the project. DreamWorks Animation has been struggling lately, so hopefully Beekle turns out to be a resounding success.
