'Tron 3' is Off the Grid
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the third Tron installment (after 1982's original Tron and Tron: Legacy in 2010) has been cancelled by Disney during pre-production.
Principal photography on Tron 3 was supposed to start this fall in Vancouver, with Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion) back on directing duties. The film would've starred returning Garett Hedlund as Sam Flynn and Olivia Wilde as Quorra.
Some people speculate that the poor box-office results of Tomorrowland are to blame for Tron 3's cancellation. The Brad Bird film only made $33M on its opening weekend, and Disney is apparently thinking Tron 3 would have been an equally risky project to produce.
Are you sad that Tron 3 is no longer happening? Tell us in the comments.
