Watch: Tom Hanks Talks About Being Walt Disney for Saving Mr. Banks

Mary Poppins is inarguably one of Walt Disney's crowning achievements - up there with Steamboat Willie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Disneyland. Saving Mr. Banks tells the story of that story, and how Walt Disney acquired the rights to author P.L. Travers's original book. Emma Thompson plays Travers, and Tom Hanks is the first person to play Walt Disney; Hanks talked about the pressure and importance of taking on such a high profile role in a new featurette for the film, below.

"I don't look anything like Walt Disney," said Hanks. "I don't sound anything like him. I can grow a moustache and part my hair... The job at hand was to somehow capture all that whimsy that is in his eyes, as well as all the acumen that goes along with it as well." And watching the footage in this clip, the Oscar winner certainly seems to have a handle on that.

Den of Geek just reviewed the film; giving it four stars, Simon Brew of the site said this:
"Emma Thompson will walk away with the bulk of the plaudits, and rightly so. There's a believability and heartbreaking quality to her performance, which measures pretty much perfectly the requisite amounts of humour and emotion. Tom Hanks feels effortless as Walt Disney, and there's nothing here to damage his reputation as one of Hollywood's finest leading men.
Oh, one last thing: leave before the end credits have rolled at your peril. Saving Mr Banks has the best mid-credits sequence we've seen in years. It's goosebump-inducingly good."
Saving Mr. Banks also stars Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, B.J. Novak, Ruth Wilson and Colin Farrell, and is directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side). It opens on 29th November in the UK, and 13th December in the US.
