New 'The Good Dinosaur' Synopsis May Reveal Story Changes
The Good Dinosaur has been through some difficult times at Pixar: it's lost a director (Bob Peterson) and was delayed 18 months. But the film appears to be on the right tracks again, and Pete Sohn (Partly Cloudy) is currently hard at work, directing what will be Pixar's 16's feature film. But it appears some sacrifices had to be made.

We already reported that Josh Cooley would be directing an Inside Out related short film, which will be available as a bonus feature on the feature film Blu-Ray later this year. Now, it appears that Stitch Kingdom got its hands on the title of said short: it could be called Riley's First Date. More below.

Josh Cooley to Direct an 'Inside Out' Short - Co-Direct 'Toy Story 4'
![]() |
| Josh Cooley |
Stitch Kingdom noticed that a Variety post called '10 Animators to Watch' spilled the beans on some upcoming Pixar projects; the animator to watch in Pixar seems to be Josh Cooley, as he apparently just finished directing a short film set in the world of Inside Out, and will be co-director on Toy Story 4.

Brand New Frankenweenie Short to Appear on DVD/Blu-ray Release
Tim Burton's Frankenweenie hasn't had the best run at the box-office (just north of $63 million at the time of writing), but the critics love it, and the DVD and Blu-ray will likely sell well among Burton and animation fans.
Stitch Kingdom reports that the film arrives on home video on 15th January (in the US), and is bringing a brand new feature-based short with it. In the same vein as Brave, which is accompanied on home video with the new short The Legend of Mor'du, one of the bonus features on the Frankenweenie - which is also released by Disney - release will be a two minutes and twenty second short called Captain Sparky vs The Flying Saucers.
Going from the title, the short will likely follow the home movies Victor makes with his later-reanimated dog Sparky. Captain Sparky was written by Frankenweenie co-producer Derek Fray, a long-time collaborator of Burton's who also worked on Alice in Wonderland and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
No word yet on the UK release date though.

Pixar Short Films Volume 2 Due on 13th November
It's a good time to be an American Pixar fan. With Finding Nemo 3D and Monsters, Inc. 3D due in cinemas later this year, Brave due on DVD and Blu-ray and Nemo due on Blu-ray for the first time, there was already a lot of Pixar goodies to enjoy - and now there's one more. Pixar Short Films Collection: Volume 2, which we saw hints at a while back (originating in our interview with La Luna director Enrico Casarosa), has now been officially dated for a (US) release date of 13th November.
This'll be a particularly grand day for US fans, as Brave is due for home video release that same day! Stitch Kingdom tells us that the Blu-ray collection is now available to pre-order on Amazon. The collection will include shorts from where the first collection left off, from Your Friend the Rat up, at least, until this year's La Luna. We can also glean from the cover-art (above) that the set will include the Toy Story Toons - or at least Hawaiian Vacation. No word on whether it'll include Partysaurus Rex, and we'll have to wait for an official announcement to get the full break down of shorts included.
Exciting news, also, though, is that the collection will include student films by John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton and Pete Docter! Included, at least, are John Lasseter's Nitemare and The Lady and the Lamp; Stitch Kingdom detail even more too. The collection will also contain special features looking at how some of the Pixar talent got their start in animation.
Exciting news indeed and a must for any Pixar fan! No word on a UK release date though.

First Look at the Next Toy Story Toon
Disney's The Muppets, opening in cinemas very soon, is set to be preceded by the latest continuation of the Toy Story franchise, the Toy Story Toon, Short Fry. As such, Disney and Pixar have released a couple of images from the short film, giving us a flavour of its story, to promote Pixar Canada's first Toy Story short.
USA Today gives us one image (above), and Stitch Kingdom provides us with another (below). The plot of the short is a retelling of The Prince and the Pauper, when Buzz is accidentally swapped for his Happy Meal toy equivalent. The images also provide us with our first look at the pint-sized Buzz (voiced by Day & Night director, Teddy Newton, who also voiced Chatter Telephone in Toy Story 3) and Glee's Jane Lynch's character (the mermaid with her back to us below).
USA Today also has an interview with the short's director, Angus MacLane, who says, of the abandoned toys: "These toys' existence is about being really popular before the meal and then being totally forgotten about,".
MacLane also adds, of Buzz being Juxtaposed into the support group for these toys, that "There's something funny about having the action hero have to deal with something very mundane like escaping from an awkward social situation,". He also passes some comments on the short's voice cast and message.
Head on over there to read the whole interview. Thanks to The Pixar Times for the news.

New Cars 2 Still - Mater and Holley
Above we have a new still from Pixar's upcoming sequel, Cars 2. The picture shows the 2 characters that we understand will form the romantic aspect of the film, Mater and spy-in-training, Holley Shiftwell. Remember, the film is set to focus more on Mater than on Lightning McQueen, and this image is a testament to that.
