Pixar's first fairytale didn't receive all the acclaim we expect from a Pixar release - sure, it won the Oscar, and we here at A113Animation were very high on it, but general consensus is that it was merely quite good. Nonetheless, Pixar seem to have found a lot of love within their parent company for the film's feisty fire-haired lead: Merida will officially become the eleventh Disney Princess on 11th May, Inside the Magic reports.
A "royal coronation" will take place at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom at 9:30 am on 11th of next month. Merida joins classic Disney heroines like Snow White and Belle, as well as more recent additions Tiana and Rapunzel. Of note, she's the first Disney Princess without a Prince.
Inside the Magic also shared a few images of Merida's moderate Princess redesign. Congrats to everyone at Pixar on the achievement, particularly co-director Brenda Chapman, for whom Brave, and Merida, was a very personal passion project.
