Back The Moon Bear Animated Short on Kickstarter

You guys remember Scotty Jo, right? Friend of the blog who's been kind enough to have me over on his podcast and let me ramble about animation twice now (with a third time coming up shortly). Well, he's working on a little animated short film of his own, Moon Bear. Moon Bear is based on a storybook Scott himself made in college, a touching story about loneliness, all told in a charming visual style.

Scott intends to traditionally animate the short over the next year or two, and it's not going to be cheap. As such, he's set up a Kickstarter campaign to fund the technological requirements (including new hardware and professional animation software, Toon Boom). He's trying to raise $3500, and, at the time of writing, has got just over a tenth of that. As is the norm with Kickstarter, more generous contributions will get you more interesting rewards: $10+ will get your name in the credits, $25+ will get you a DVD and signed thank you note too, up from there you can get framed cells and drawings and more. Check out the campaign here and watch Scott's intro video above.

For the record, A113Animation heartily endorses and recommends Moon Bear and encourages you to back it. Head on over to ScottyJo.com to read some more about the project, and check out some exclusive production material below.
