As we march inexorably forward and Pixar's fourteenth feature film looms ever more, Entertainment Weekly have today got some exclusive details on who will be lending their voices to Monsters University - as well as some new posters and images from the film!
Joining the returning cast of John Goodman, Billy Cyrtsal and Steve Buscemi, - we already knew - are Oscar winner Helen Mirren, Dave Foley (A Bug's Life), Sean P. Hayes (Will & Grace), Charlie Day (Horrible Bosses), Pixar's Peter Sohn (director, Partly Cloudy; voice of Emile, Ratatouille), Joel Murray (Mad Men), Julia Sweeney (Stuart Little) and Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2). Today, we learned that a lot of other exciting actors - including some Pixar favourites - are confirmed for the film.
Nathan Fillion voices Johnny Worthington, the central horned monster. |
Firefly's Nathan Fillion, The US Office's John Krasinski, and Bonnie Hunt (in her sixth Pixar film, after previously appearing in A Bug's Life, both Cars films and Toy Story 3, as well as a small role in the original Monsters, Inc.) have all been announced for the impressive voice cast. Fillion plays jock supremo Johnny Worthington, Krasinski voices a Monsters, Inc. scaring supervisor, and Hunt takes on the role of a young Mike's teacher.
Ratzenberger with a sketch of his Incredibles character, The Underminer. |
Another Pixar favourite is unsurprisingly returning; the Emeryville studio's good luck charm, John Ratzenberger, is officially on board - although not reprising his role from Monsters, Inc. as The Abominable Snowman. Instead, Ratzenberger is cast in a slightly more generic role: "a Monsters, Inc. employee."
Also joining the Monsters U voice cast are Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Tyler Labine (Tucker & Dale vs. Evil), Bobby Moynihan (Girls) and Beth Behrs (2 Broke Girls). To check out what roles those actors are filling, head on over to EW.com.
I love both Bonnie Hunt (especially her role as Sally Carrera) and John Ratzenberger... how could I not as a Pixar fan?!
ReplyDeleteI like this news (especially because I love Parks and Recreation and Aubrey Plaza) but I have to ask: Where's Celia?
ReplyDeleteAlso this will be Bonnie Hunt's sixth voice role at Pixar (she was also in Monsters, Inc. as Ms. Trout, the scare trainer).
I was wondering about Celia too... and Roz. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me post your Disney Retrospectives on my blog, Munir!
I remember reading ages ago that she was going to be in it - but I have a feeling that that was on Wikipedia and that it had no proof... I suppose her absence makes sense, she is the secretary at Monsters, Inc., rather than MU.
ReplyDeleteWas she really? Well that'll teach me to not consult the Internet before writing, haha! Cheers.
No problem :)
