Big Hero 6 is the latest film from WDAS - and also their latest triumph! It would've been easy for the studio to rest on its laurels after Frozen's smashing success, (success that's still resonating today) but it's reassuring to see that the studio has no plans to slow down; Big Hero 6 is the latest proof of that.

The second full-length trailer for Disney's Big Hero 6 is remarkable for a number of reasons. One such reason is that - in what's an extremely rare move for a trailer for a Hollywood film of this size - it actually focuses on the characters, rather than just a bunch of big action set pieces. Another reasons is that it's really, really good.

Disney recently aired The Story of Frozen: Making a Disney Animated Classic; as well as providing the history of the highest-grossing animated film of all time and announcing the Frozen Fever short film, the TV special also featured a brand new clip from Walt Disney Animation Studios' next film, Big Hero 6. Speculation's been running rampant for a while, and impatience has been growing, so Disney have finally revealed the voice cast for their 54th animated feature, Big Hero 6, along with some brand-spanking new character images to accompany the announcements!

Two New Baymax-Centric Posters for Big Hero 6

Disney are getting out in front with the advertising for their 54th animated feature, the Marvel-based super-teen film, Big Hero 6. And today, we get two fun new posters for the film, featuring Baymax, the cuddly/friendly-turned-badass robot who promises to be a breakout character in the film.

Henry Jackman has worked with Disney before - he scored 2011's Winnie the Pooh, 2012's Wreck-It Ralph and he's just done Captain America: The Winter Soldier for Disney-owned Marvel - and now he's apparently working on the score for Walt Disney Animation Studios' Marvel adaptation, Big Hero 6, says Film Music Reporter!

After the big spectacles that The Princess and the Frog and Tangled were, I was genuinely surprised that Disney chose to do a Pooh film. The last Pooh feature done by Disney Animation was The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh back in 1977 and it was a compilation of previously done shorts. I've never been much of a Pooh fan and, outside of Many Adventures, I never cared for any of its other incarnations as most of them tended to be kid-exclusive. I went to see Winnie the Pooh with a bit of trepidation but I came out utterly enchanted by its disarming charm.

Bolt Co-Director Chris Williams Joins Don Hall at Helm of Big Hero 6

Perhaps mirroring the production of their current mega-hit Frozen, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Disney have added Chris Williams, who co-directed 2008's Bolt with Tangled's Byron Howard, as a director of their upcoming Marvel-adaptation Big Hero 6, alongside existing director Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh).

Directed by Winnie the Pooh's Don Hall, Big Hero 6 will be Walt Disney Animation Studios' 54th animated feature film, and an adaptation of the lesser-known Marvel comic of the same name. Big Hero 6 Not Released in the UK Until 2015? Or, Why Disney Still Hates Non-Americans

Yes, this is another international staggered release dates rant. If there's one thing that boils my bacon, when it comes to film studios, it's when films are released several months after their initial North American premieres over here in the UK. While writing a post about animated releases in 2014 (watch out for that in the next couple of days), I logged onto fiilmdates.co.uk to check when Walt Disney Animation Studios' Marvel adaptation, Big Hero 6, was due over here in good ole Blighty. And I was very much not pleased with what I found: the film isn't even due here next year; much like the God-awful situation with Wreck-It Ralph last year, it's not arriving until 15th February, 2015!

Well, it's official: Disney are marketing everything except for Frozen. In fact, today we got our first look at Walt Disney Animation Studios' 2014 release, the Marvel co-production, Big Hero 6!

Disney's Big Hero 6 Adaptation Listed for November 2014 Release

2014 is gearing up to be a really good year for animation: Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, Laika's The Boxtrolls, possibly Henry Selick's The Shadow King, and now another exciting prospect from Disney. A while back we heard that Disney were working on an animated adaptation of one of Marvel's lesser known properties, the super-team Big Hero 6. Now it's official.

Today's reveal, courtesy of Bleeding Cool, backs up what we heard in June of last year: the film is being directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and is due in 2014. The release date revelation comes via RentrakSpain, a reliable site, who are listing Big Hero 6 for a 21st November, 2014 release in Spain - which tallies up with Disney's usual animated release schedule. UPDATED - 20:25 (GMT), 24/02/2013: The US release will fall, presumably, on 7th November - we heard in October that Disney had slotted an unnamed animated picture for release on that date. Hopefully the UK release won't be in 2015.

Still no official word from Disney, but it seems to be a pretty sure thing at this point - expect to hear something at Disney's D23 event this summer. Until then, it's a really exciting concept!

Coming Soon: Disney Animation Studios to Make an Animated Marvel Film!

Yep, you did read that right. Almost 3 years after Disney bought Marvel Entertainment, and after much speculation that we might see this, Honor over at Blue Sky Disney tells us that Walt Disney Animation Studios are working on an adaptation of a Marvel property!

Rather than focus on the more mainstream Marvel heroes like Iron Man or Hulk (mainly because they're prominent in The Avengers) Disney are instead opting to adapt and animate the Marvel super-team, Big Hero 6. The film is to be directed by Winnie the Pooh co-helmer, Don Hall, and is tentatively due for 2014.

This is a huge move undoubtedly for Disney, Marvel are enormous at the box-office, as are Disney; this may be a more obscure Marvel team, but this will certainly be a smash-hit nonetheless! This marks, that I'm aware of, the first time Disney will have worked with another studio on an animated release; their first superhero film; the first Marvel film in the Disney Animation canon, and so much more. This promises to be an extremely exciting project and it seems a perfect fit for Disney right now. Following on from the very modern-minded Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6 looks to continue a new trend for Disney.

The Little Mermaid directors Ron Clements and John Musker are developing a new hand-drawn animated film, and that and Frozen will presumably keep Disney's princesses in fine form, but this and Wreck-It Ralph balance it out perfectly.

If there were doubts previously, let them be now allayed, the third Golden Age of Disney Animation has arrived.
