Meet Hiro and Baymax in First Stills, Poster and Footage from Disney's Big Hero 6!

Disney are beginning the hype again. With their 54th animated feature, Marvel-adaptation Big Hero 6, coming this November, the Mouse House has started releasing our first proper looks at the film! With a trailer coming later today, first check out the official stills, poster and teaser trailer teaser (yeah, really...) here!

Six Snazzy New Hi-Res Images from Frozen

All aboard the Frozen advertising train! In the last few weeks, we've got the fantastic "First Time in Forever" trailer and our first clips from the film, and now we've got six great new hi-res stills from Frozen too! My personal favourite? Why, the Elsa one, of course! Check out the other stills, featuring Anna, Kristoff, Hans, Olaf and the Duke of Weselton, below.

Six New Images From Toy Story of Terror! Show Off Combat Carl

We may not be getting a film from them in 2014, but Pixar are treating us this year. Last week we got a great trailer for the studio's first TV special, the spooky Toy Story of Terror! (Disney stylise it as Toy Story of TERROR!), and this week we got six great new stills, showing off the half-hour special's array of characters old and new.

Disney Release 5 New Frozen Stills

Hallelujah! It's the day we've all been waiting for: Disney are marketing Frozen! Strangely, admittedly, the studio has taken to weather.com, with the tagline "Feeling hot? Think Frozen." But who cares about the unconventionalness of the advertising, because the Mouse House rolled out five stunning new images from their 53rd animated feature film!

Leaked Frozen Images Seem to Confirm Character Designs

Internet leakers continue to provide a better marketing campaign for Frozen than Disney. Today, images surfaced online which seem to confirm the designs of the film's central sisters, Anna and Elsa, that we glimpsed in the fake posters released a few months back.

UPDATED: Pete Docter AMA, Monsters, Inc. 3D Featurette and New Monsters U Images

The fantastic Pete Docter took to Reddit today, for an AMA (Ask Me Anything), answering questions about Pixar, his work past and present (including The Inside Out and Monsters, Inc. 3D), and some somewhat off-topic stuff. The Monsters, Inc. and Up director was cut off in mid-stream though, by an impromptu fire alarm at Pixar - which he reassuringly posted about upon his return:

New Images From Blue Sky's Epic

It certainly looks like, at least somewhat of, a departure from their funny Ice Age-norm, but Blue Sky Studios' Epic looks just that: epic. Directed by Blue Sky co-founder and head-honcho, Chris Wedge (Ice Age, Robots), and based on the 1996 book, The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs, by William Joyce, Epic looks set to wow - particularly in terms of visuals.

Poster and Images for Disney and Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger

A glut of brand new shots, and a poster, from Gore Verbinski and Disney's adaptation of The Lone Ranger hit the web today! The super high-budget western epic stars Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as the title character, and is directed by Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean 1 - 3, Rango) and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean, Top Gun).

Two New Partysaurus Rex Stills

The German Pixar Blog brings us two new stills from Pixar's next Toy Story Toon, Partysaurus Rex. The third Toy Story short, developed by Pixar's satellite studio in Vancouver, is directed by Pixar veteran Mark Walsh, and follows everyone's favourite neurotic dinosaur, as he tries to reinvent himself.

Scored by Grammy nominated electro-musician, BT, Partysaurus Rex will play with Finding Nemo 3D which hits US cinemas in just under a month (14th September; UK viewers have to wait until 29th March, 2013 though).

Three New Monsters University Stills

Although Pixar's latest film, Brave, is still to open in a lot of territories (including here in the UK), it's run is coming to an end in US cinemas; after grossing over $200 million! So, eyes have now began to turn to the Toy Story studio's 14th feature film, the prequel to 2001's Monsters, Inc., Monsters University.

Set while the best-friend duo of Sulley and Mike were in college - and rivals - Monsters University is Pixar's first prequel and is sure to do very well. We can expect to be hearing more and more from Pixar's next film in the next year, and today, a PDF found on Pixar's Graphics Research website, with the catchy title of  "Multiresolution Radiosity Caching for Efficient Preview and Final Quality Global Illumination in Movies", about lighting, rendering and global illumination/colour bleeding in computer animated movies brings us three brand new stills from the film.

Admittedly, the images are unfinished and unpolished, but they still show a startling amount of detail and give us a glimpse into the film and the rivalry between the two eventual-best friends. The red-boxes around the second two images featured here are because later in the document these highlighted areas are enhanced and compared; the document (read it in full here) describes new, faster, techniques for rendering and global illumination in Pixar's films.

Monsters University is directed by Dan Scanlon (Mater and the Ghostlight) and is due for release on 21st June, 2013 in the US, and in the UK on 12th July, 2013.

The First Four Wreck-It Ralph Stills

Ahead of the release of the first trailer this Friday, Disney have released the first stills from their 52nd animated feature film, Wreck-It Ralph. USA Today bring us four new stills from the highly anticipated animated film, which is said to do for video games what Toy Story did for toys.

The above still sees the film's main character, once video game villain, Ralph (John C. Reilly) seeking to mend his ways by handing out Pac-Man cherries to out of work video game characters from Q*Bert, and is our first real look at the film's protagonist in computer animated form. Loving the 8-bit inspired design of Ralph and the great, vibrant atmosphere of the still.

The scene at the top is playing out inside a power strip (above), which is "their [the video game characters] answer to Grand Central Station as they travel into one another's video games."

Two other images introduce us to the characters of Sgt. Calhoun (Glee's Jane Lynch, above) and Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman, below), the former being a hard-as-nails soldier in Halo looking game, Hero's Duty. The latter is a young girl character from the Mario Kart inspired game Sugar Rush, who becomes like a little sister to the repentant Ralph.

I'm loving the range of these stills and Wreck-It Ralph looks set to be another fantastic addition to the Disney canon, hopefully continuing that Third Golden Age we've talked about.

Wreck-It Ralph is due out on 2nd November in the US and 15th February, 2013 here in the UK, and will be paired with Disney's latest buzz-generating short, Paperman.

New Brave Clip and Stills

Pixar have released a glut of new promotional material as of late, for their next feature film, Brave, and over the last couple of days, we've got a few more great bits! Firstly, above is the newest clip from the movie, titled "The Suitors". It sees the three Lords, and their respective sons (who were introduced to us in "The Prize"), who are vying for the hand of Princess Merida, trying to one up each other by touting the wares of the three clans.

Personally, I love Lord Macintosh! And I'm rather fond of the MacGuffins too... come to mention it, Dingwall was rather funny as well... yeah, I'm rather taken with the Lords and the mini-Lords. Leave it to Pixar to, once again, populate a film with such fantastic characters!

Secondly, we're also treated to a dozen new gorgeous images from the film, courtesy of Disney Brazil (view all 12 over at Cine Marcado).

Brave looks absolutely stunning, one of Pixar's most visually fantastic films to date, and it certainly looks like it has the story and characters to make this one of Pixar's best films to date! Roll on 22nd June - or, begrudgingly, 13th August here in the UK.

New Brave Character Bios and Images

Throughout the many trailers and TV spots we've seen for Pixar's next feature film, Brave, a royal duo have featured very prominently: King Fergus and Queen Elinor. The monarchy of DunBroch, the parents of the film's antagonist, Merida, have been at the forefront of each and every trailer (apart from the teaser), particularly Elinor, and today /Film provide us with character descriptions for the duo as well as previously unreleased images.

The official character description for King Fergus, voiced by Billy Connolly, is:

King Fergus is a heroic warrior with a majestic bear cape, broad sword and a knobby peg leg – the result of his much-regaled skirmish with the demon bear Mor’du. His vendetta against the beast who took his leg makes Fergus a ferocious and determined bear hunter, evidenced by a home full of mounted trophies of every size. Protector of his kingdom and family, Fergus has a heart as big as his triplet sons are mischievous and boundless love for his wife, Queen Elinor. But his pride for his first-born daughter Merida is unmatched, and he has gifted her his great skill and passion for the sword and the bow.

And the description for Queen Elinor, voiced by Emma Thompson:

A vision of grace, wisdom and strength of character, Queen Elinor is fiercely dedicated to the well being of her family and kingdom. As the measured, diplomatic counterpoint to her more impulsive husband, King Fergus, Elinor carries the weight of the kingdom on her shoulders in order to maintain the fragile peace between the volatile clans. Elinor strives to instill in Merida the knowledge and manner of a royal, expecting complete commitment to Elinor’s standards. But her vision of her daughter’s future is at odds with Merida’s rebellious spirit and desire to forge her own path, which ultimately causes Elinor to face calamitous consequences.

New Brave Images Show Merida's Swordplay

Disney and Pixar have released two new images from their next feature film, Brave. These newest images both show the film's fiery-haired protagonist, Merida, practising her swordplay, but are polar opposites in tone. The first image (above) details a scene, presumably, from towards the end of the film, showing a tense, dramatic test of strength, with Merida standing centre, wielding a large sword.

The second (below) shows the very different relationships Merida has with her parents; showing jolly, fun-filled sword practice with her father, King Fergus, whilst her mother, Queen Elinor, lingers in the background, looking her over.

Brave is due out on 22nd June in the US, and 17th August here in the UK.
