Party-Packed New Monsters University TV Spot

A new TV spot for Pixar's fourteenth feature film, Monsters University, aired during the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards on Saturday, and you can now check it out online (embedded above). The new TV spot certainly hammers home the collegiate theme of the film, with raving music, hilarious dance moves and general merriment - long story short, it's a helluva lot of fun.

Despite some focus on the actual university, this spot focuses more directly on the actual film behind it all (directed by Dan Scanlon). It also boasts some absolutely breathtaking animation; with this, and The Blue Umbrella preceding it, this is going to be one great looking package when it opens on 21st June in the US, and 12th July in the UK.

I love this! It has fun music and some great new footage... and it's Pixar, so how could I not like it? The only thing... it doesn't sell the story to me, like the full-length trailers do.

  2. I guess it is rather hard to sell the story in a 30 second spot. Plus, in terms of the intended audience for this ad, it was aired during the Kid's Choice Awards.

Yeah. I just remember (I think!) the TS3 TV spots being more exciting. Well, it is the first spot. They'll hopefully keep getting better!

  4. Oh yeah, they were great! I suppose though, that did have the benefit of being a Toy Story film - that comes packed with more than enough built-in hype! Either way, I have quite liked the MU advertising so far. :)
