Three New, Non-Mater, Cars Toons Announced... For Tonight!

Cars Toons - Shorty Shorts: Hiccups

Well, this is a surprise. Disney have just announced three new Cars Toons, being billed as Shorty Shorts, to premiere on Disney Channel tonight during an airing of Up (starting 8/7c) - note, these details are all for the US, though the shorts are to hit the Internet on Sunday. They're called Shorty Shorts because they're just that, short, about a minute and a half each, and they'll be airing throughout the night.

Cars Toons - Shorty Shorts: Bugged

Three Shorty Shorts have been announced, all directed by Jeremy Lasky (DP: Wall-E, Toy Story 3) and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer: Brave). Alongside the names of the shorts, a still has been released from each (and they're all gorgeous; kudos to Pixar Canada again), alongside a brief synopsis and air-time.

• Hiccups (airing 8:21 PM): "When Lightning McQueen gets the hiccups, everyone in Radiator Springs thinks they have the cure".
• Bugged (airing 8:50 PM): "Red's peaceful morning routine is interrupted by a pesky visitor".
• Spinning (airing 9:13 PM): "Guido discovers he has a hidden talent as a street corner sign spinner".

It's great to hear these shorts will be returning the focus to the Radiator Springs gang that were so widely neglected during Cars 2 - although it will be interesting to see if characters like Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell factor in at all. Of note, these are the first Cars Toons that aren't part of the Mater's Tall Tales series.
