There has been a trend lately of Disney adapting some of their best animated features into live-action films. It all began with Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland in 2010, which led to Maleficent, due to open in the summer of 2014, and Cinderella, currently being filmed for a 2015 release date.
As was revealed in a Hollywood Reporter article, the next film to be given that treatment is 101 Dalmatians (again, technically). Just like Maleficent, this movie will apparently focus on the villain, Cruella de Vil, and will be titled Cruella.
Disney already produced two live-action films based on this story with Glenn Close as the fur-loving antagonist (101 Dalmatians in 1996 and 102 Dalmatians in 2000) to a poor critical reception.

Not much more is known about Disney's new take on the character. The only information we have so far is that Glenn Close is back, this time as an executive producer; and that Cruella's script is being written by Aline Brosh McKenna, who already penned Kenneth Branagh's upcoming Cinderella for Disney.
What do you think? Is this a good idea or just Disney being unoriginal? Do you believe Glenn Close will be back as the famous villain, or will someone new be hired?
