Willem Dafoe Back for Finding Dory: "It’s Even Better than the First"

We know that Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks are returning for Finding Dory, and now Willem Dafoe has told Total Film that he'll be reprising his role as Gill in the Nemo sequel. The actor seems very enthusiastic about the film too, saying "it's even better than the first."

"Yeah I've already started," said the Spider-Man and Platoon actor. "It’s even better than the first. It’s fantastic. It’s good to say I think it’s going to be better than the first; that’s good advertising!"

No spoilers were offered up, but Dafoe did comment on the pressure of following on from the enormous success of Finding Nemo, the third highest grossing animated film of all time. "It's difficult to repeat a success and so many years afterwards, but it’s really cool,” he says. "I've done one session so far and I just am going to have such a good time."

New cast members include Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy as Dory's parents, and Modern Family's Ty Burrell as a Beluga whale named Bailey. Andrew Stanton is again directing, from a screenplay by Victoria Strouse.

Finding Dory is now coming on 17th June, 2016 in the US, and 29th July in the UK, since it was pushed back from 25th November, 2015 after The Good Dinosaur was pushed back to that date.
