Watch: Bat-tastic New Trailer for The Lego Movie

Although quite a few of the films originally slated to open in it have migrated (Pixar pushed The Good Dinosaur back to November 2015, Universal also pushed Minions back to July that year), 2014 still has a pretty exciting line-up of animated films - this is one such film. Warner Bros. have rolled out a hilarious new trailer for The Lego Movie, featuring a healthy dose of Will Arnett's Lego Batman!

If you've not seen the first trailer yet, that's also worth a watch, but this second one will perhaps give you a better sense of the film's plot. We get our first look at the film's baddies, Lord Business (Will Ferrell) and Bad Cop (Liam Neeson), as well as a better look at our main character, "ordinary guy" Emmet (Parks and Rec's Chris Pratt). The funniest bit of the trailer also happens to be a large point of focus in it: Lego Batman (Arrested Development's Will Arnett); we also get our first look at Cobie Smulders's Lego Wonder Woman (Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are also signed on as Lego Superman and Green Lantern respectively). And then there's Lego Lincoln.

There's an awful lot to love here: the staccato animation used (which is actually CG, not stop-mo as sometimes reported) is absolutely great; the voice acting is top-notch; and it has the same barmy, quirky humour that made Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs so fun.

Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Charlie Day also star. Also, check out these new images from the film, via Collider.

The Lego Movie, directed by Cloudy's Phil Lord and Chris Miller, assembles on 7th February, 2014. Next year will also bring Mr. Peabody & ShermanHow to Train Your Dragon 2, The BoxTrolls, Big Hero 6 and more!

  1. I believe this is all CGI, made to look like stop motion. Pixels not plastic!
