Considering their shocking lack of advertising for Frozen, Disney have done a hell of a job marketing Planes. They've turned this former straight-to-video Cars spin-off that everybody had written off as a cheap, shoddy, money grab, into one of my most anticipated theatrical animated releases of the year. That turnaround continues today with a great new trailer.
The music really sets a grand tone, and the film's focus on racing and friendship looks like a lot of fun here. That, and the animation is absolutely sparkling - particularly given this is a film that's not even being made by Disney's main animation arm. The downside though, the trailer does appear to zip through the entire plot of Planes, ending on what we assume is the rather predictable ending... So beware of spoilers if you decide to watch it.
Planes is directed by Klay Hall (King of the Hill, The Simpsons) and produced by Pixar supremo John Lasseter. Starring the voices of Dane Cook, Stacy Keach and Brad Garrett, Disney's aero-animated comedy hits US cinemas on 9th August, and a week later on 16th in the UK.

Looks Awesome.
ReplyDeleteStill not sold. Where's Frozen Disney!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm completely flabbergasted by how excited I am for it, and how quickly's it's happened.
ReplyDeleteHa! Frozen. The lack of advertising is starting to feel like an elaborate practical joke at this stage!
All of a sudden it's the second highest animated movie that I am looking forward to this year (after MU).
ReplyDeleteI can't really say the same for Frozen.
I know, how'd that happen?! Yeah, well Disney will have only themselves to blame if nobody goes to see Frozen, at this rate.
