If you cast your minds back, Abrams's directorial feature, Misson: Impossible III, featured Jonathan Rhys Meyers, so it's not unlikely that the director would want want to work with the actor again.

We still haven't had official confirmation that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will be back, but we're pretty confident that this will be addressed in the near future.
Episode VII is due to be released in 2015.
