Despite the fourth chapter of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, On Stranger Tides, series being critically underwhelming, Disney are going ahead with a fifth, and have found a director - or directors, rather - for it.
It has been up to Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Disney, and Jack Sparrow himself, Johnny Depp, to choose a new director. The duo of Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg have been chosen.
Rønning and Sandberg are best known for directing Kon-Tiki, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards.
Kon-Tiki tells the true story of the raft that Norwegian explorer Thor Heyerdahl used when he traveled across the Pacific Ocean in 1947. With their experience directing a film about an expedition, it's clear why these two seem suited for the role.
There is still no news on a story for the fifth film yet, though rumours from a Disney source last year teased that, "Will Turner's story might not be finished"' Orlando Bloom too has stated that he would be interested in returning. But so far, these are just rumours.
We do know that Jack Sparrow, played by Depp, will be returning, but no other cast updates have surfaced. Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal writer, Jeff Nathanson, has been announced as penning the script.
Production for Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will start in January 2014 and it's set for a July 10, 2015 release date.
