Legendary Disney directors Musker & Clements are working on a new project. After The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Hercules, Treasure Planet and The Princess and the Frog, they'll be releasing Moana next year; and Dwayne Johnson will be voicing the male lead in it.
The actor revealed the news himself yesterday via his Instagram account. See the announcement below.
Dwayne Johnson teased that he will be singing, but also divulged what some of the themes of the upcoming movie might be - or maybe some song lyrics - in the hashtags of his Instagram post.
According to the following plot synopsis, The Rock is most certainly playing the demi-god Maui:
In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.Moana will be released on the 23rd November (US) / 26th December (UK), 2016.
