Star Wars Rebels Logo and Concept Art Revealed

Star Wars Celebration is going on here in Europe right now, and there's some exciting things being announced! If you didn't believe that John Williams was back to score Episode VII, believe it now. But in more animated news, we also got a cool new look at the latest Star Wars animated series, Star Wars Rebels, and an official logo.

The show, which takes place between episodes III and IV, was highlighted at the event, with special interest paid to how the visual look of the show was inspired by the work of original Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie. Some new concept art was revealed for the show, the first of which (above) shows off 'Ghost', the series' main character's ship. Another piece of concept art, showing an Imperial TIE Fighter getting shot down, was also revealed.

Star Wars Rebels, which we first heard about back in May, reunites a lot of the same crew as The Clone Wars, including executive producer Dave Filoni, who unveiled all this today.

Rebels is being produced by Lucasfilm Animation and premieres with a one-hour special on Disney Channel in the fall of next year, before switching over to a regular slot on Disney XD. The synopsis is:

The series is set between the events of Episode III and IV -- an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. It takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.
