The Hollywood Reporter just revealed that yet another LEGO movie is on the way. It's not The LEGO Movie Sequel (directed by Rob Schrab and scheduled for 2018). It's not The LEGO Batman Movie either (helmed by Chris McKay and set for a 2017 release). It's not even Ninjago (with Charlie Bean in the director's chair and opening next year). The new spin-off is called The Billion Brick Race and will be co-written/directed by Jason Segel and Drew Pearce.
Very little is known about the project so far. What we do know is that The Billion Brick Race will take place in what could be called the LEGO shared universe that Warner Bros. is currently developing.
Drew Pearce (writer of Iron Man 3 and the upcoming Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) came up with the concept for this new film. He will be writing the script with Jason Segel, perhaps best known for his acting work (How I Met Your Mother). This will be Pearce and Segel's directing debut.

Phil Lord & Chris Miller (directors of The LEGO Movie) Dan Lin and Roy Lee are producing The Billion Brick Race. No release date has been set yet.
Do we need more LEGO movies? How many can Warner Bros. throw at us before it becomes redundant? What do you think?
