Watch: 'Khalil Gibran's The Prophet' Trailer

First shown at the 2014 Cannes Festival, The Prophet is based on a book of poetry essays written by Lebanese writer Kahlil Gibran. It tells the story of a man - the prophet - who is leaving the city where he has lived for 12 years and is about to board a ship which will bring him home; The Prophet is also a series of observations on life, love, religion, good and evil, and death… Watch the trailer below.

Khalil Gibran's The Prophet is written and directed by Roger Allers (The Lion King), but like the book is divided into chapters/segments, and a different director is in charge of each segment. Also directing parts of the film will be: Tomm Moore, Paul and Gaëtan Brizzi, Joan C. Gratz, Mohammed Saeed HaribNina Paley, Bill Plympton, Joann Sfar and Michal Socha.
As the trailer demonstrates, the result will certainly be a weird and heterogeneous movie, but also something unique and beautiful.
The voice cast includes Lima Neeson, Salma Hayey, Quvenzhané Wallis, John Krasinski and Alfred Molina.

Khalil Gibran's The Prophet will be distributed by GKids in the United States starting on the 7th August, 2015. There's sadly no information yet on an European release.
